Peanut Free Mamas

We Don't Need No Stinking Peanuts!

Okay, this may sound silly, but it has been my quest the last week to make Em' some chocolate chip cookies, they've been around a lot lately, but -of course - we face the age old risk of baked goods made elsewhere. So if I could just find some chocolate chips that weren't made around peanut stuff, that would make it happen, all the other ingredients seem okay to use, but it's been total chaos trying to find some chips.

A) I went to Safeway where I looked at the back of the bags of 3 chip makers: Nestle, Ghiradelli, and the good ole Safeway Select. The first two mentioned the familiar "made on equipment..." line, but the Safeway one didn't (which tells me either they miraculously have a chocolate-only facility, or they are insufficiently labelling their products, my gut is saying the latter...)

B) Online "Allergy" stores seem to only carry the Chocolate chips that have quotation marks. You know what I mean if you've looked, the soy-free, dairy-free, nut-free, chocolate flavored tofu chips or whatever the heck they're made of. We don't have a chocolate allergy, we have a PEANUT allergy! Why is it so hard to find un-tainted chocolate?!

So if any of you know of a place where we could find chocolate minus the quotation marks, you would be a HUGE help!

Thanks! I'll have to check it out. I've gone to their site before, but it seemed like they only had truffles and prepared candy, not plain chocolate, I'll have to look harder, thank you so much!

Hi, my name is Steve Leffer and I am Chocoholic & Chief Taster for Chocoley.com, a company that sells gourmet chocolate ingredients, tools , equipment and supplies to chefs, chocolatiers and hobbyists. Great News...ALL of our Chocolate (we have 20 different chocolate products) is PEANUT FREE, TREE NUT FREE, EGG FREE and CELIAC SAFE. Our chocolate is produced in facilities where none of the above ingredients are present and is packaged in our facility, where there is NO opportunity for cross-contamination. Unfortunately, all of our chocolate either contains dairy or is manufactured on the same processing equipment as chocolate that does contain dairy, so we can't say that it is dairy free. Additionally, all of our chocolate uses Soy Lecithin as an emulsifier, so it IS NOT Soy Free.

Please visit our site, you're going to love our chocolate, we even offer a Satisfaction Guarantee: www.chocoley.com

Finally, you have just discovered Chocoley, one of the highest quality and most delicious brands of chocolate available and It's Safe for you and your loved ones. Now you can enjoy a delicious chocolate fountain or chocolate fondue pot, make fantastic Easter or holiday chocolate candy or chocolate lollipops, make chocolate chips cookies, or anything you like with chocolate. By the way, we're not that new, we've been in business for five years.

Wow do I really know how you feel. Our Family loves chocolate chip cookies and when my daughter was born we left no stone unturned finding what was safe for her. For chocolate chips the way to go is GUITTARD, their factory is in SF, Ca they are totally nut free. they are in a silver foil colored package. we live in the Bay Area, CA and have no problem finding them. let me know if you do and maybe we can get you some info. Also See's candy chocolate chips. you can google them both I am sure.

hello all,
I find that I prefer to just buy some good dark chocolate and chop or grind it to make chips for cookies. That way you can get some very good quality chocolate and no worries about the peanuts. That is when you get the good name brands that specialize in chocolate making, maybe Ghirardelli and so on.

Plus the dark chocolate has good antioxidant properties and more flavor too.

for all you fave chocolate and more...candy
