Peanut-Free Chocolate

Okay, this may sound silly, but it has been my quest the last week to make Em' some chocolate chip cookies, they've been around a lot lately, but -of course - we face the age old risk of baked goods made elsewhere. So if I could just find some chocolate chips that weren't made around peanut stuff, that would make it happen, all the other ingredients seem okay to use, but it's been total chaos trying to find some chips.

A) I went to Safeway where I looked at the back of the bags of 3 chip makers: Nestle, Ghiradelli, and the good ole Safeway Select. The first two mentioned the familiar "made on equipment..." line, but the Safeway one didn't (which tells me either they miraculously have a chocolate-only facility, or they are insufficiently labelling their products, my gut is saying the latter...)

B) Online "Allergy" stores seem to only carry the Chocolate chips that have quotation marks. You know what I mean if you've looked, the soy-free, dairy-free, nut-free, chocolate flavored tofu chips or whatever the heck they're made of. We don't have a chocolate allergy, we have a PEANUT allergy! Why is it so hard to find un-tainted chocolate?!

So if any of you know of a place where we could find chocolate minus the quotation marks, you would be a HUGE help!

Hershey's chocolate chips are safe as far as I know. My son isn't so sensitive that I felt the need to call them, but I generally trust Hershey products since they do label others that might have cross-contamination. Also, the little mini kisses that are candy coated are a good replacement for M&Ms. You might want to give them a call.
